What You Need To Know About Body Composition Analysis - Part 2 The BOD POD

The BOD POD body composition test is the world’s gold standard for fast, accurate and safe Body Fat Assessment.

What is the BOD POD?

The BOD POD measures your body composition. More specifically your body fat percentage, fat mass, and fat-free mass. It does not measure bone density or body fat levels by body part. For that check out the DEXA scan.

Who would benefit most from BOD POD testing?

BOD POD testing is perfect for anyone who is interested in loosing body fat or changing their body composition. Many of our clients like to test before and after making adjustments to their diet and exercise in order to see if their new approach is working for them.

What is the process?

You will first schedule your appointment through our site. After your appointment your results will be reviewed by a Certified Exercise Physiologist. Within one business day you will receive online access to your results which include your test results, interpretation, and anthropometric data.

What happens during your appointment?

Your test administrator will first measure your height and weight. You will then be asked to sit in the BOD POD for approximately 35-45 seconds for 2-3 rounds of measurement. The entire process will take around 30 minutes.

How must I prepare?

It is recommended you complete a 2-hour fast prior to your Bod Pod test. This is to ensure accuracy. You must not consume alcohol or caffeine 4 hours prior to the test.

What must I wear?

Women should wear compression shorts and a tight-fitting sports bra or bathing suit, while men should wear compression shorts or speedo. Body hair, particularly facial hair, may skew results. You will also be asked to wear a swim cap over your hair, and remove shoes, socks and all jewelry before the test.

How often should I test?

We recommend that our clients schedule to retest around 3 or 4 month after their initial test. This time frame allows enough time for the effects of their diet and training to be have a significant effect on their body composition. Many of our clients also find that this keeps them accountable to their goals.
